Canon SD Card with Viking 6-in-1 Reader Problems!!

So i just got a Canon SD 300, which uses SD memory, and i tried putting it in my Viking 6-in-1 Reader plugged into my XP system, and the folder with pops up with the "DCIM" folder showing, but then when i try to access the pictures, I get the error: "J:\DCIM is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable"

I've tried formatting it in XP, but then the card needs to be re-formatted by the camera to work. If i plug the camera directly, obviously the pictures show up within the Canon software.

So is there anything I can do? I can't believe that the SD cards from Canon won't work with All-In-One readers, right?
