o
that cheap ink ruined my printer, just like a friend of mine said it would. no more "saving money" on that again. my new printer will get the brand name from Costco, who has the best price on the premium ink. it's usually half of what the stores sell it for.
I think always follow the rules with inkjet:
1) print regularly once a week... against dry up
2) cover the printer (with a big bag, plastic cover or the one come with it.) against dust
I have to disagree on the print quality...I printed text and photos with my 2.5 yr old HP930 vs S750....texted was on 24lb 99+ brightness paper from Office Depot...text on the s750 was not a crisp black and was dull appearing..very sharp on my HP...I used std/high settings on S750...photo was printed on Kodak paper with std/max settings...had a pixelated appearence on S750 and was 35mm quality with the HP....
I wanted this S750 be my photo printer ...figured the HP 930 (got for free from the old estamps deal) was old tech but I think the S750 is pure disappointment....I thought the HP 930 was paper sensitive....
I am going to try and get an S820 ...and see what happens
But beware...I know many have said paper is key but If I can not buy HQ paper...like the 24lb 99+ brightness from OD etc and not get good quality text and HQ kodak photo paper or anothe rbrand why bother
I would not get this unless you are willing to use only certain brands of paper and even the nI doubt the quality is that good...I should point out there was a sample print by the printer but it was at 1200x1200 and non glossy paper ...looked pixelated to me....but there was a sample print with the S820 and it was not pixalated in fact it was awesome looking....
Just finally joined AT to post my incredible appreciation for this thread (thanks r0ck!!).. I have been keeping my eyes open for a printer with a decent operating cost that would also print a good 4x7 photo as well (I have been w/out a printer at home for 2+ months)..
I almost broke down and bought a $150 Epson with near identical specs Saturday, but you saved me a LOT of money.
I am also VERY happy with borderless 4x7 print quality using glossy photo paper (which you can find here).
Thanks again, and thanks to everyone here who has steered me right in the past..
I can't comment directly; I ordered the S750 from Staples on Sunday. Here is a review of the S750; on the zdnet site you can compare printers side by side. So select the S750 and the i320 and see what you think.
