Canon S5 IS question

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a Canon S5 IS camera and found out that they make the camera in Japan as well as China. To my luck, I got one that was made in China.

In the back of my mind, I was worried about quality control issues and wonder if it would make a difference in the real world. Is this unfounded?

I can still return it and maybe wait for the next generation since I also hear abouy noise issues at higher iso's.

Thoughts.

Thanks.

Noise at higher ISO is an issue related to the sensor (size/mpixels) and I doubt they'd change the sensor in the next batch/generation

Aharami is correct - noise at higher ISOs is directly related to the size of the sensor. IOW, a full size sensor such as in the EOS 5D, 1D, or 1DS can do higher ISOs with less noise than a smaller sensor such as exists in the S3,4 and 5 IS series. I would not worry too much about whether or not the camera is made in Japan or China. The QC should be the same. I just checked my S3 IS (purchased in Germany) and it is made in Japan.
