I just purchased a Canon S200 and noticed the lcd quality is horrible indoors and under low light conditions. The image is very grainy and fuzzy, like watching a tv with bad reception. However, pictures come out crystal clear during playback mode. Anyone here with a similiar problem? I know a lot of people here bought this camera recently from the hot deals post, so please tell me if I have a defective camera.

Just got back from OM to get an exchange but they didn't have any S200's in stock. Anyway the manager took a look at the camera and said that it's normal, for the lcd display to be "fuzzy and staticy" under low light conditions. I didn't believe a word he said and there was no in-store display model for me to test out either so I just left. Is the manager bs'ing me or is it really normal for the lcd to be fuzzy? My Olympus 510 doesn't have this problem.. its lcd shows a clear image under any lighting condition. Someone please help me out, OM only has a 14 day return policy... thanks.

As far as I know its supposed to be this way. The low resolution of the LCD on the camera and slow reponse time attribute to the pixely and static images while in motion to take a picture. The picture will show up fine after the picture is taken while showing the playback of the picture that was just taken.

if it is the lag you are talking about, it is normal, especially under low light conditions

sorry for not posting this info on the prior post

Yes, this is DEFINATELY normal for your camera's LCD screen. Don't worry... you'll get used to it after you look at the results. :)

It is perfectly normal.
The resulting picture will be fine, not grainy like on the LCD.

TRUST ME.
I've had a Canon S110, S200 and now a S330 (and soon an S400) and they were all like that under low light, indoor conditions.

probably cuz low light at very fast exposure times for full motion display. if u take a still picture the shutter stays open long.

When I use it lcd looks grainy but is fine when looking at the preview after picture is taken. So it's normal for me been that way since I've got it. Anyways I hardly use the lcd to take pictures with.
