I am a digital junky, but I recently got a Canon Rebel EOS with 35-80mm lens for $10 at a thrift store. It seems to work great! I still haven't gotten any pictures developed, but the lenses look perfect and it is in really great shape.

Note: It is a Canon EOS Rebel. Not a Ti, G, X, 2000 or any of that stuff... just a plain ole Rebel.

Anyways... Does anyone know where to get a PDF (or other) version of a Canon Rebel EOS (older version).
I really appreciate it!

Thanks!

I had that camera... what can't you figure out about it? It's pretty much like any other SLR from that time period. If you post a question about something specific, I can probably remember what to do (maybe)...

1. What are the 2 little buttons behind the LCD?
2. Can you turn it off?
3. What are some of the icons on the wheel? (I can look this one up prolly)
4. What is the little round dot to the right, on the inside LCD (in the eyepiece)?

Link? I can't find it on their site. All they have are the more modern Rebel manuals.

#1 - Probably AE lock/FE lock and focusing point selector (auto or manual)
#2 - LCD? Not sure...
#3 - Post pic...
#4 - Should be AF focus indicator...

BTW I'm giving information based off EOS Elan 7...so may be wrong...

Vague descriptions, post pictures for better analysis.

The Rebel body line should be pretty similar, so you can take a look at the available manuals and probably get a good idea of what each button does.

Err.. okay I'll try:

1. The one with the asterisk symbol * is the exposure lock. Like if you taking a pic of something with a backlighted background, you can get close, set the exposure, and then back up and not have it change to compensate for the background. I can't remember what the 2nd button does (sorry)

2. Turn it to the "lock" on the dial. I think it should just be a highlighted 'L'

3. Av is manual aperture with automating shutter speed; Tv is manual shutter speed with automatic aperture; M is manual for both shutter speed and aperture; guy running is action mode; mountains is landscape/distant mode; face is portrait/close up mode, green box is general point-and-shoot mode (use this the most)

4. What color is the dot? I think if it's blinking that means that with the shutter speed selected (usually low light conditions) you won't be able to take a shot unless you have the camera mounted on a tripod or some stable surface.

** I must say that if I'm right about any of this, I should be congratulated! :D I haven't used (or removed this camera from its bag) in over three years, and I am not looking at the camera now either ;)

Hope that helps (if I'm right)!
