SD series cameras have DIGIC II built in for faster focusing, recharge, writing, and viewing. It does make a difference. But I think the S series has more manual-ish control, IIRC. (Seriously, though, could Canon choose a MORE COMPLICATED naming structure for their cameras? Jebus!) No stabilizers on any of them.

Just got an SD400, love it. I don't really see a reason for more than 5mp unless I get obssessed with this thing.
the SD500 uses a larger sensor chip, and bigger lens.....
Personally, the SD300 and SD400 are too hard to hold onto..... the added size of the SD500 and shape are easier to hold...abiet its a larger camera.

They took it off shortly after getting pounded by this deal. As it is, they can't fulfill the orders they took, let alone take more orders on it.
Dell wont ship this camera to you for another 2 months FYI. Thats what happened with me :/

Actually, mine has shipped, should arrive monday or tuesday. They actually shipped it the same day i got the delay notification actually. What on earth are they up ?
Where do you guys go to read reviews on digital cameras? I tried cnet but for some reason a lot of the canon cameras have low ratings. Of course I'll go somewhere to acually see it close up but I wanted to know about known flaws and stuff by reading reviews.

Steve's is a place i've used before and they seem pretty impartial.
best way though is to get to camera shop and actually get one in your hands. Most cameras offer similiar capabilities, and one of the telling points is how comfortable it feels in your hands.
Plus, see how "logical" the menu system is for you; some people prefer one system to another. So visit camera store and play before you pay. lol

ok, finally got fed up and called dell. the guy told me it shipped today and gave me a DHL tracking number...
I put that in and DHL's website said it's not a valid number.....so I don't know what's going on.

they do that a lot the geforce 7800 cards had ship date of september.. and most people got it yesterday, their inventory or status control isn't good.. i order a pair of 6600 gt and it says 7/29 and i got it 1 day after ordering
