wow! the digital elphs are HANDS DOWN no question the best compact cameras you can buy. i paid almost $400 for a sd630 about a year ago, they are AMAZING cameras. it seems not too hard to find the sd1000's for around 2 bills though. nice that its a direct from amazon offer though

Compared to some of the others in the SD series the SD1000 feels incredibly cheap. Especially the zoom lever.

If you want quality, get yourself a Fuji F31FD. Not the smallest of pocket digicams but the super quality makes up for it. I've been disappointed that the latest Canon pocket shooters aren't any better than the previous gen.

holy crap dude this is the camera I'm looking for exactly!

i think I'm going to try and pick it up at circuit city today for $159 w/that $40 off coupon.

no dice for me w/the $40 off coupon and PM

at first after the PM he said he could do the coupon OR the PM, not both, then I was tellin him how I heard some people did both but it depended on the CC and he tried to scan it and try it. But it wouldn't scan so he went and asked his manager if he could just input the code and came back sayin he couldnt

So I'm going to try one more CC tonight and before I bother I'm going to ask em straight up if they will use the coupon or not before I even tell them what I want. If they say yes, I may just PM it to their website (its $219 on there) and get it for $179 instead of trying to do the other deal then possibly completely ruining it.

So I went to another one yesterday and asked immediately if they accepted the coupon and the guy looked at it and said yah sure. I then said well can I price match the camera to the price on the website of circuit city because it's $219 on there and still use the coupon?

And he said yah sure.

I then was like "well I have this ad her for office depot that shows it for $199, can I use that and still use the coupon?" and he said "well that's cutting it there, you gotta pick one or the other. I'm already doin a favor for you with this coupon." heh so he knew the deal. He was very friendly and he knew he was doing me a favor by using the coupon, so I said sure no problem, I'll take it for $219 - $40 and bought it

And this other guy in the store saw what I was doing and had JUST bought the SD850 and just started talkin to me about the whole deal, and I told him I had another coupon cause I printed 2 of them, and gave it to him and he went to customer service and got $40 back heh.

Hm. I was actually planning on getting an SD1000 sometime soon. It looks like it's about $220 at amazon now, which is what it was when I looked at it a few days ago.

On the other hand, the Fuji F40fd is $205 and comes with a free 2GB SD card (although no free shipping (oh wait, it does have free shipping! (damn it! no free SD card since it's through Photoworld and not Amazon))). I think I might get it instead.

nice. aint it a great camera? i upgraded from the s300, so it was quite a big upgrade for me. I took it to some fireworks last night. even at night it did a great job. so small too.

i recently purchased this camera for my wife and it takes excellent pictures. this is an awesome point and shoot camera. i put a 2gig sd card in it for 18 bucks and she is thrilled with it.

I agree. I bought this camera a little over a month ago so I would have one for my stay in Washington DC this summer and have been extremely pleased with it. It takes pretty good video too.
