the s45 was actually kinda replaced a year ago with the s50. i would actually not expect a replacement for the s50/s45 for another few months (think late summer/early fall); as the PMA (large camera show, think E3, CES, comdex, etc) was just a few weeks ago and there was no mention of a new s-series camera among the 8 new cameras that canon announced.

i have the s30--with the same body--and i use the cheapest cased they had at walmart.. it was 4.99$ and it came with a shoulder strap!!
really, any case will you. i usually find the cheeapest one the best because theyre the most compact (these cams have small 'footprints')

Anything this expensive I usually sleep on before I make a decision. Gotta think about this some more. I could really use the upgrade from my A60, arg.

Screw it, I bought one. Selling my A60 + CF + batteries + tripod + case to roomie for $220 so it's only an $80 upgrade for now.

The s45 has an all metal body (more durable) as well as a lithium ion battery which lasts way longer. Some people like the NiMH AAs that the A70 takes because you can just buy AAs from a variety store when desperate but once you get used to the Li-ION batteries you don't go back IMO.

Not to mention the S45 has a slightly higher MP count as well.

Did you guys see the kodak 6340 at gateway.com? its 119!, half the price of this, but its a plastic kodak. not sure which one i want to jump on. I can do alot with 150ish but dang it, its a canon s45!!! any opinions?
