Canon Powershot S3 vs. Panasonic DMC-FZ7

Quantify "better". FZ7 is cheaper, smaller, lighter, and has a rechargeable battery, while the S3 has better IQ, a higher price, a better LCD, and AA batteries.
 
Well, the overall package. AA batteries are certainly nice given the flexibility. ISO and Shutter speed are important. I can get the S3 for $400... Thanks.
 
S3 has less noise than the FZ7, but at higher noises, it's a bit tough to compare. Canon sparingly applies noise reduction at higher ISOs, while Panasonic liberally smears the picture so that the noise is harder to see.

Not sure about the shutter speeds; you should be able to check and compare the camera specs.
