I can't answer that precisely but overall the canons are considered cheaper than most because they use 5 ink cartridges (2 for black I believe), so when you run out of one color, you just replace that color instead of the entire multi-color cartridge. I've read many reviews and people rave about the canon quality, and when they mention efficiency, they mention it in a positive way because of the multiple cartridges (and no mention of fast ink usage, except cyan and magenta run out the quickest)

New replacement cartridges are about $10 for canon brand - refurbs cheaper of course.

If this is a sale, the price should end today. My friend got it for me. I was in San Jose and did not want to drag it on the plane this weekend. I should get it when I see her in Austin.

As for price for ink. Its only $.99 at Megatoners.com. Price was like this for 2 weeks now. I dont know how much longer it will be at $.99/color.

Like Rossman said. I wish it had fax capabilities too, but at this price I will retire my HP.

If you're going to buy ink from Megatoners, you might as well beat your Canon AIO with a sledgehammer.

Not only will your heads get clogged, but you'll have poor quality blacks and colors while doing it.

If you search the cheap ink threads, there are a few higher quality alternatives that are still pretty cheap (maybe not $.99 per cartridge, but you get to use your printer for more than a few months too :D).

This wasn't listed in their ad that came out on Thursday, normally their sales end on Tuesday, but I didn't see this till today when it was posted. . . Does anyone have a confirmation of when this is set to end?

Good point RossMAN, I had assumed it had one to be honest. Maybe it should be called an almost-all-in-one. ;) The newer MP780's were upgraded with fax capabilities.

This is a cool little machine. :) The document feeder hasn't jammed yet and the printing is very fast. For $99 its probably one of the best deals I've ever gotten.

btw, Downers Grove, IL has lots of them.

wow, this is hot. I bought the 780(with fax) at Staples for $170AR a while ago, but would have gladly forgone the fax at $99. I couldn't be happier with mine - cheap ink, fast printing, good photo quality, multi-page scanner, double sided prining and no ink jams. For this price, I'm tempted to pick up another one as a backup!

Great deal . . . picked one up last night. . . it doesn't fit in my printer pull out drawer, but oh well. . . Fry's didn't have this priced correctly at the display, and my Fry's in Austin had lots in stock. I mentioned to the cashier that they might sell more if they had it marked at $99 instead of $200 and he just stood there.

Thanks jsole!

BTW the deal isn't dead online yet it still shows up at $99

How does printing compare to a Canon Pixma IP3000?

Also, how is scan quality and convenience? Is it just as good as stand alone units?

And is the only difference between the MP750 and MP780 fax capabilities?

This one seems to match the specs of the Canon Pixma IP4000 17ppm Color and 25ppm B&W according to Canon's site. The built in fax machine is the main difference between this and the 750 and 780.

Canon has a lot of good information at
Canon 750 Detail

They also have a product comparison and feature picker. . .

EXTRA $50 rebate if you buy a computer or Camera from Canon. YMMV since I will be submitting 2 seperate receipts. It does not stipulate that the products have to be on the same receipt or even come from the same store. I had already bought another laptop within the time limits of the rebate so its great if it works.

This would make the deal Smoking HOT.

I just bought the mp760 from amazon for 190, and i'm getting the 50 mail in from my a95 camera bought on march 10th (which is very fortunate! that's the first day for this rebate to be valid!) so, all in all, i'm getting an mp760 for 130.. awesome

as for the price per page, it's cheap. I don't remember exactly what, but check out the mp760 review on cnet. the cartridges are less than 10 bucks each on amazon... and i mean genuine, not compatible.

by far one of the best multifunctions around. i wouldn't go for the mp750 though if you can afford the 760 or 780... 780 is more office geared (ADF, fax) wheras 760 is home geared (lcd, memory card slots)

The Deal is on again!! Should be good until Jun 21.

Remember the rebates if you bought a new computer or a Canon Camera. Links are above.

Well this price is too good to resist and I just may bite.

How quick and easy are the scan and copy functions?

hmm. . . I really should try more of the features of this new printer/scanner. . . I haven't tried them yet but when I do I'll let you know. . .

Reviews of the 780 and 760 indicate these would be fairly easy but you know how that goes. . .

Austin ad shows this deal too. . .

Okay the Scan works really fast. . . very easy to use. One touch or you can of course tweak the settings. It prompts for the application you want the scan to open into the Canon software worked great for this and the scanner is at least twice as fast as my old Visioneer 7600 was. . .

Very easy to use imo. A start button for b&w copies and one for color, as well as a resolution button with 3 quality settings. The lid stays up on its own - a small deal but helpful.

The scanner software is very easy, it has a simple mode or an advanced mode with resolution/gamma/curves/histogram etc, and you choose whether you're scanning from the glass or the feeder. In both modes it has nice doc recognition, autosizing the output based on the dimensions of the target, not the size of the glass or default page size pref. The preview takes a total of 7 seconds from hitting button (I don't use this w/docs tho). Negative is that it doesn't save all the individual scan settings when closing, and reverts too much to default when reopening it.

I've mainly been scanning, doing it directly from Acrobat and with the feeder. Specs say '35 page doc feeder', but have done 59 with no jams using crisp paper. Its is very reliable so far, hasn't jammed except with some crinkled paper and a forgotten staple. Has a button to clear feeder if needed. The software that comes with makes it easy to save to file, pdf, image file, etc, but acrobat does better quality pdfs.

It has a powersaver mode, printer duplexer (printing only, not w/doc feeder), and Omnipage SE 2.0 ocr software and Pagemanager 6 included.

I haven't printed out high res. photos yet, so I can't say much about the print quality. It would be awesome if it had a fax so I could get rid of mine, but I'll probably just get a modem anyways so I can manage incoming faxes electronically (which many all-in-ones can't do anyways.)

I recommend getting the $20 service warranty - I'm usually against them but getting a second year and the ability to take it to frys and get it fixed or replaced in 24 hours is worth it given the value of the machine. After all, there are a lot of moving parts.

Overall (for me atleast) this is a ridiculously great deal.:thumbsup:

It sounds like a pretty good Canon printer. I myself bought a cheap Canon i350, used it for quite a while had to say no complains about Canon quality, good design, the driver even knows when my cartridge needs replacement. Best of all I get my black cartridge at $7/piece. Pretty much the most economical printer I've bought.

I got mine from City of Industry Frys and so far so good. However, they do not have any on display and I had to get a sales associate to get one from the back.
