DPReview made a comparison video between the T4i's hybrid contrast/phase detection AF and the Panasonic G5's contrast AF:

There's really no comparison. With Panasonic now on their 4th generation of mirror-less camera systems, their AF is significantly faster (almost instantaneous) while Canon's hybrid AF in the T4i (which is the same being used in the EOS-M) is obviously hunting.
