anyone know much about this model? my grandma cant live without a document scanner, and she doesnt want anything but an all in one unit (laser print plus scan).

it looks like the laser carts only cost $27 a pop too.. thats really good if they last a few thousand pages.

Not sure about this model in particular, but I've own a few other iterations of this model. Low-end canon are pretty good bang for the buck. Scanner is decent (slightly blurry, but fairly accurate with tones). I highly recommend one with an automatic document feeder!!! The Canon MF Toolbox software is easy to use, but a little behind the times.

As for the non-Canon toners, I think we all know how it is? Sometimes you get one that's on par with the OEM's. Most of the time, it's close enough. And sometimes, it just leaks all over the inside.

That's mighty good advice if you are using this in any kind of environment where you'll be copying or scanning multiple pages.

With that in mind, I just picked up the following unit (the Canon ImageClass MF4350d).

Costs a little more, but in the overall scheme of things, not that much more. I ordered it yesterday afternoon...and it was delivered this morning via FedEx...and that was "Free Shipping"!

Now I'll have to see how it holds up.

thank you reefamadness, for your support for marijuana. i also agree on your thoughts about the printer/scanner. im going to do a bit more research tonight, but i have a feeling i will end up buying the same one you did. auto duplex printing for scanning, copies and faxes is perfect for grandma. she will love it.

I'm glad that you found my input on the printer useful, however, I think that perhaps you've jumped to conclusions on your other comment.

Now, I'm not saying whether or not once upon a time it may have meant something else... :D
