My folks have a pair, and they are really nicely built all the way around..
They have a button you can press to turn on the stabilizing system, and it makes a huge difference. With out it, you could not really see the moons of Jupiter. With it on, you could count them.

I am thinking about purchasign a pair for my self.

Are any other companies making these?
Does anyone else have any experiences?

dig around there for some good info.

are you getting into astronomy?
No, but I had a pair of Canon 10 x 30 IS
at the beach this weekend.
The reality is this:
10 X is so much, that you can't hold them steady enough to see much, even if you lock you arms in, and brace yourself next to a wall.
However, press the IS button, and boom - the image stops shaking.
In other words, there is no point in owning binoculars without IS, because you can't hold them still enough to not be completely frustrated with usign them.

Need IS at that magnification.
Also, chicks are a lot fatter than they used to be!

Try holding them with both hands next time... :D

These have been out for while.
but, I don't think the general public has discovered them yet.
they are expensive.

No experience with their binocs, but I have an IS camera lens that works wonders (28-135 IS USM). I can only imagine that their binocs are just as good.

While handy, IS is not a requirement for 10X zoom.

It isn't?
After using them for a whole long weekend, I assure you it is just about pointless to have 10X without a tripod or IS.
