I recently purchased a Canon HV20 camcorder and have a few questions.

After recording some stuff, I hooked the camera up to my standard definition TV via the a/v cables supplied. After watching it, I realized there were what seemed to be lines all over the place when I looked closely. It was sort of like the video needed anti aliasing, but not quite.
So, my question is, once I upload the video to my computer, is there something that happens that makes it better quality?

And my second question deals with the actual hardware itself. On the right hand side, right where you slide your hand in to freehand shoot, there is the place where you insert mini dv tapes. The arm that comes open when inserting a dv tape seems fine, but when closed, it has a slight wiggle. As in, with some force coming from the right, I could push it a tad more closed, as though its not closed all the way. Its almost un-noticeable, but I would like to know if other people are experiencing this.

Did you change the settings on your camera to non-widescreen TV before you played the footage on your TV. Maybe it's showing up wrong because it's outputting the wrong format?

As for the door where the tape goes, mine does not move. I mean it moves very slightly, but nothing that I would be worried about at all.

Don't own one, but I was watching discussions on it for a POV camera (it is not a good helmet cam as it has a problem with OIS and vibration as does the HV10).

DVInfo net HV10 forum

We have a forum over at DVInfo.net just for the HV10 and 20. Pro and Prosumers shooting with it. So if you guys want to read user experiences and tips... An example is that some folks are attaching mini-35 adaptors to them so that they can attach prime 35mm lens. Hollywood film depth of field and macro on a HV20 in HDV. It is so totally cool (and the rest of the kit can cost more than the camera in a heartbeat.)
