Canon HV20. Cheapest?

I have been a strong patron of NewEgg for years. They list the Camcorder I want at $749.99

Except I've seen it at this WAY cheaper at $419.00. Can I trust this "bestpricecameras.com"? It just seems too large a price gap to just think its a better deal, perhaps too good to be true? I'm just looking for the best price I can from a trustable retailer.

Edit: Perhaps the second one isn't HD? Odd that they'd give the camcorder the exact same model number for it.

Whoa, I think that's the lowest reseller rating I've ever looked up.

.14 out of 10.

Reading the customer reviews is more entertaining than the majority of threads in ATOT.

If 1/10th of what's written about them is true, they ought to be locked up in jail. (IMHO)

edit: For what it's worth, that .14 out of 10 must be because 2 or 3 people didn't know the scale was 0 to 10, rather than 1 to 10. Holy Cow! Stay FAR FAR AWAY from Best Price Cameras... big time scam.

You know... I almost wonder if it would work to order something from them, then during their high pressure sales and bait & switch tactics, I said something like, "do you know who you're talking to? This is the assistant secretary to the attorney general of New York. This order is part of our investigation. We need to see if you're sending gray market goods." Do you think they'd cave at that point and ship the product?

I doubt it..they'd probably be rude to you and hang up (which they've done many times as listed by various people on the net)..

There seems to be a whole string of these websites that offer products for a fraction of their real price....people get baited to ordering it...then they make you call them and they "offer" to sell you a whole slew of upgrades...ranging from batteries (which they said don't come with the camera), to lenses to all sorts of things...all at inflated prices...

If you say you don't want any of those..then they tell you rather abruptly that it'll either take weeks to ship the camera (eg. never)...and that it's the japanese version (and only has japanese menu's...yeah right)....

And funnily enough...most of the websites are inter-connected (most likely same owner)..

Avoid them like the plague..

I just bought a Canon HG10 (HDD version of the HV20) from H1 Photo and was very pleased with the transaction. I went with the cheapest shipping option (UPS ground for $14) and it got to me in 3 working days, arriving on Christmas Eve. I couldn't be more pleased with the camera and the retailer. I highly recommend buying from them. Their price is $685, and they have nothing but positive reviews on Pricegrabber and ResellerRatings.com.

Stay away from Best Price Cameras. They have horrible ratings, as do several other retailers with "incredibly" low prices. If the price is too good to be true, stay away or at least do your homework before buying.
