Canon G12 vs Fuji X10

Your thoughts please. It'll be a present. Presentee was looking at a G12 the last time I talked, I think X10 would be a better bet.

I've ordered an X10 for myself but it has yet to arrive, zero experience with G12.

They were doing a lot of online comparisons and it's their first 'high end' camera - i.e. they don't know exactly what they want, and from a visual aspect I think they might be happier with the X10 as well. I just wanted to know if there were any specific functional demerits / differences of note I should be looking at.

In fact, I'm pretty sure that the preference for the G12 came from when I lent them my Fuji X100 and they fell in love with the overall form factor + OVF and that the G12 is the closest thing they could find. They didn't mention the X10 - very likely because they don't know about it, and I haven't mentioned it either.

I know the G12 is the most they can stretch to and they were talking about buying it on sale after Christmas. I'd like to surprise them before.

I'd buy him the S95 and the PSC-900 case.

The others are too big for a "go anywhere" camera, and the S95 is basically the same camera as the G12 in a smaller package that weights half as much and costs much less. The S95 w/ the PSC-900 case is always on my belt and always with me.
