Interesting though. I've been going back and forth with getting an LX3 or a small lightweight dSLR. I think I'm expecting too much from the LX3, so I won't be happy. And I want to play w/ HD video... and utilize my lenses. Sooo... maybe I'll save more and get this down the road.
Why is everyone complaining about the lack of stereo sound and 30fps 1080p video capture on this thing? It's an SLR camera, for pete's sake, not a frigging camcorder. If you really wanna take decent quality full HD resolution movies, you should be using a video camera anyway.
I don't know... maybe I'm turning into one of those crotchety old camera traditionalists who still think that photos still look better on film 🙂

I would personally like an all-in-one that can do it all fairly well. It'd be a godsend for travelers and people on the go who can't carry a lot of different unitasker equipment. And you can use your existing excellent SLR lenses. Think if you were a scuba diver and you could just take video and pictures at the same time with one body. Now that'd be nice. Or traveling the world and instead of just having a still camera to record your memories you have the option to shoot video of those timeless moments. Or photojournalist that can do impromptu videojournalism out in the field. Canon's thinking ahead, but this crippling of the video features on both this and the 5D MK2 aren't making me happy (no aperture or focus control, wtf?).
The 20fps for 1080p absolutely killed it for me. I wouldn't even bother. You're paying extra money for half assed features. Unless you're ok with just shooting 720p.

5D mk2 does have focus control in video mode though it's quite slow.

^ yea it's pretty obvious Canon added the 1080p just as a marketing gimmick. Just another bullet point to be added to the box to make it fly off the shelves faster. I cant really see anyone using 1080p over the 720p mode. And what the hell is up with the name? T1i? sounds soo.... revolting. Why cant they stick to the xxxD names like in Europe? At least it's not called Kiss whatever like in Japan.

The first thing when I heard T1i was a small P&S like the Canon TX, that handheld video camera thing. I was definitely surprised when it turned out to be an SLR.
I guess D500 or whatever was getting too close to the Nikon D700 name?
