Canon Elura 100 plugged into PC, not detected??

So I'm not big on video internet forums, so I just figured I'd ask here where I'm more familiar.........

Bought Canon Elura 100.........plugged into USB. Nothing happens. I thought Windows might pick it up automatically like a card reader or something, but nada.

I have a canon Digicam too & I just don't like using all the software. For me it's a card reader, plug & play & do what I want with Irfanview or Virtualdub or whatever.

Any ideas why Windows ain't pickin' up the camcorder??

Wow! I guess I'm an idiot!!

The USB cable that comes w/ the camcorder is only for the "picture" (memory card) use of the camera. Not the tape side. Tape side is firewire only and they DON'T PROVIDE A FRIGGIN' CABLE!!!

Man........I'm not even a woman & they let me walk out of there without a firewire cable!!!!

Now THAT'S pathetic!! (Time to dig in the garage for a FW cable!) Grrr!! :|
