Am I the only one experiencing this? I have a Canon S100 and the battery life sucks. I fully charge it and after an hour of usuage, the battery is gone.

That is normal.

It takes about 40-50 pictures and the battery is gone. When I had mine I made a habit of always shutting off my camera after using it.

I moved onto the S40 and the battery life is much much longer. I can take over 100 pictures without the battery going. But if you compare battery sizes, the S40's is at least twice as big if not triple the size.

With the S100, what you are really giving up is features for size and that also applies for battery life.

Yep, that's the down side to compact cameras -- compact batteries.

Don't use the LCD screen. Your battery life will be much longer than if you do. Also, buy extra batteries and a recharger.

I have a Canon S30, and the battery life is OK if I don't use the LCD screen. But I always have two extra charged batteries with me if I'm out for the whole day.

when you are on picture taking mode, press "disp" and it will turn off..

it looks like the cam is off , but the lens is still out

yea, i didnt like how the battery sucked on my S100, good thing when i got the S110 its alot better.. i usually go thru an entire 128 MB CF before i need to recharge the battery...
i would just get another battery, use that newer one as your primary one and keep this one as the backup

get a g2. Best battery in the class! I get 3-400 shots and 2+ hours time viewing on the LCD.

The problem with the G2 is size. People buy the s110s and S30/S40 because they want a pocket sized camera.

true. but i bought the G2 because it would fit in my pocket. Granted its not elph-sized or highy compact but its actually not bad.
