Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro

So I've been having fun with this new macro lens! I decided to take a few landscape shots with it just to see how well it works in that respect. Here's a minimally processed (no sharpening) full res JPG (converted from RAW) from my 40D.

I'm not saying it's a well composed shot overall but I'm thoroughly impressed with the image quality even at 100%!

Fixed-focal macro lenses are usually very good in terms of image quality, regardless of whether they are being used for macro or not.

The 100mm is actually also a very good portrait lens since it's sharp straight from max aperture.

I've used it for portraits but this was the first time I've tried some landscape type shots. I knew prime lenses were good but this is awesome. I'm going to look into a prime super wide angle now. Perfect way for me to spend more money that I shouldn't!
