Canon digital Rebel EOS

I have one, I love it. I think Amazon has a current deal right now. $940 shipped. Check Rossman's website: gottadeal.com for info.

Get it from a reputable retailer.

Also, some people will tell you to get Nikon D70, but lack of ISO100 is just ridiculous.

I have a fair amount of EOS equipment I would like to reuse. 🙂

I have one of these badboys at work. Its a beauty, and takes great pictures. the price is steep, but hey, its a dslr. If you already have a few good lenses, you won't need to get the kit and can just get the body, which I've seen run from 800 something to 900

I recently upgraded to the 10D (big brother of the digital rebel). I love it.

Visit www.dpreview.com, they have a Forum specifically for the 300D (Digital Rebel). Lots of solid info there.

If you really serious about photography and can afford it, get 10D instead.
Rebel is too limited in it's manual setting. You can't set metering and AF option.
10D body only probably can be had for around $1300, probably less if you get it used from ebay.

I like it. Takes great photos. The main complaint I have against it is that I can't activate active servo manually. There is a hacked firmware for it which allows you to adjust FEC on the camera.

The Canon A1 uses the F mount while the Digital Rebel uses the EF mount. They are not interchangable. Look into the Nikon D70. Although I have the Digital Rebel, it is my back up. I would rather have the Nikon D70 over the Digital rebel if it was my primary camera.
