Canon BJC 85 printer prob

I purchased a canon BJC-85 portable printer for my business laptop. It is fully recognized and drivers automatically are installed. Laptop OS is win2kpro. I receive the following error whenever i try to print.

Spoolsv.exe application error
The instruction at "0 x 10001277" referenced memory at "0 x 00000010" the memory could not be "written"
Click OK to terminate
Click Cancel to debug

I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling, downloading drivers from the web, from windows update. I have checked the connections about a million times. And my slow a$$ IT dept in TX has given me NOOOO help at all. DOes anyone have any ideas?

This printer does work on a win98 machine, and a winXP machine. It is also listed as being compatible with win2kpro. So I am at a loss.

This is not the printer driver. Spoolsrv.exe is part of the Windows spooling service, a driver layer supplied by Microsoft. Ask your IT department to try an operating system repair, else it's going to be reinstallation time.

The Canon BJC-85 drivers have been around for ages (so does the printer), I've seen them work on pretty much every Windows release from 95 to XP.

Arrrgggghhhh, I was afraid someone was going to say that. The main prob is that I live in GA, my corp HQ is in TX, and they take their sweet A$$ time helping out with such things.

OK, thanks Peter, I appreciate your input.
