Duplex? All printers can do duplex. You take the printed paper out and stick it back in backwards.

My wife uses this as a dedicated printer to make edible cake and cupcake sheets for school and parties and such. Edible ink and paper can be found here:

PF21 CARTRIDGE SPECIAL (gray case)
For Canon 4400, 2000, 2100, 5000, 5100 series printers
2 Black Cartridges
2 Tri-Color Cartridges
1 set Head Cleaner Cartridges
All 3 sets: $50.00 ($76.00 reg)

edible ink

As for ink cartridges, it uses 2 similar to HP, a black and a tricolor. One thing I don't like, you can't see how much ink you have left. I have 2 bjc-6000s that I use for regular printing and the bjc6000s come with clear individual tanks.

This seems like a good deal as the ink cartridges are cheap at Megatoners.com. 1.49 for black, 2.49 for color. The ink doesn't last long since the tanks are very small. I bought two BJC-2000's for work that crapped out within a year. I paid 29.99 for each of them last year. I think the BJC-2100 is essentially the same as the BJC-2000 except it has USB support. Not to crap, just giving people some info on my experiences with my BJC-2000. It was a good little printer while it worked.

I've got this printer. Compared to the Epson 880 sitting next to it, printing is like watching paint dry. It's sllllloooooooowwww. Even worse in color. I can print four black pages with the Epson in the same amount of time the Canon prints one. However, one good thing... you can refill the BC-20 black cartridges forever (almost). Color output is marginal, so I print B&W only with it.

I used one cartridge for over a year, and refilled it about 50 times until the print quality got bad.

As for "duplexing," it's software duplexing.... you're told when to turn the paper over and stick it back in.

hm..is it a automatic duplex, or manual. ie: u have to remove the paper, turn it over, put it back in, then click on the ok button?

(i have the hp930c w/optional automatic duplexing unit. it ROCKS!)

I've also got the 2000 and have to agree with jonnashville in using the high-capacity, higher quality BC-20 cartridges and refills to get the most bang for the buck out of these printers. The tiny (I mean, we're talking 5mL or less) black and color tanks will suck you dry after only a short while but the 20mL BC-20 produces decent black output, even after a couple dozen refills. If you're primarily looking to print color, this is not the printer to get.

And haha, software "duplex." What will the marketing folks think of next? :D
