I read about that on DPreview. It was later confirmed by Chuck Westfall. I do have Canon lenses, but I just got a new camera, and I'm not going to upgrade for a while.

I guess they are afraid people will hold off buying the current high end model, but, sounds to me like the 11MP is a ways off from reaching the street, so, if you need a camera you will buy anyway.

I wonder if it's the same technology as Fuji, with the interpolated 6MP CCD or if it's true 11MP.

I hear you. I have a 4 MP Canon G2 which seems like more than enough camera for me for the next 4 - 5 years. My last Kodak 1.3 MP camera lasted me 3 years, before I wanted more features and higher resolutions.

WHOA! So it's actually real? It was just leaked too early! Wow... I can't wait to hear more about it from my favorite camera manufacturer. :)

Same here- I've got a Canon A40 and I'm almost ready for an upgrade (black G2) after mastering it, but not quite yet.

This model is designed for studio work, not fast enough for shooting sports, my gig. Not like I can afford the regular 1D anyway (8fps....drool).

an 11mp camera would be immensly useful in my field (photojournalism). if a working 11mp camera came out that could shoot at the same speed as a F5 or an EOS1n at a price of, oh about $5,000, it would be a *must have* for every newsroom. Not like digital isnt already, but the current ceiling-6mp-stretches the limit when you need to crop in tight on something and then run it full or even half-page.

And that doesnt even begin to cover studio work, which it looks like this is aimed towards. 6 grand is a friggen bargain for this thing. 2 years ago 6mp cameras were selling for 20,000.
