New Question:
I'm looking around for batteris for this. I've taken maybe around 100 pics with the batteries provided with the camera and it seems to be doing just fine. I know i need some NIHM rechargables so i was thinking of ordering this (selection #3) . Is this a normal price for this? I'm kinda surpriesd by a $50+ price tag. I got this by casually glancing through the steves-digicam battery review and Ditial Imaging's shootout.

Old question:
In lowlight pictures, I noticed that the LCD has many horizontal lines on it (imagine a grainy vhs tape) but it looks absolutly beautiful in high light pictures. Is this common or something else wrong with mine?

if you used the flash, my camera (toshiba MDR35 i think) does it when teh flashed at night, the lines on teh flash end up showing on the photo (like on the wall and stuff)

Low-light is hard on digital cameras and even conventional 35mm cameras. It's going to cause grainy views....but it's more noticable on the screen. Sometimes, pictures will look grainy and if you turn the flash off, they'll come out even better. You may just need to play with the settings to find out what works best. I have a Canon s200....

Is it just in the LCD or is it in the picture as well? Digital cameras are pretty useless in low-light, though I think the Fuji FinePix series does better than the Canon PowerShots. If you must have a crystal clear picture at night, you're gonna have to use a slower shutter and low film speed.

just the lcd, no biggy. Seen it happen for about 2 seconds maybe 2 times in all the pictures I've taken - when I use the LCD. Great camera though!

I haven't gotten too far in the manual, just been playing around with the camera, but i haven't figured out what the different ISO speeds indicate/are good for.

myt GF's a70 does the same thing.
She got the extended warranty at wolf and they say they'll cover anything but theft, so in a few months when this issue is fixed with a newer model, I'm gonna take it back and get a fixed one

I picked up a set of Energizer rechargeables at Sam's Club. $20 for (8) 1850 mAh AA's and this charger(14 hours with built in trickle charge).
Energizer 1850's rank very high I think it's a good deal if you want batteries quick without having to order online.

My A70 has the line problem on the LCD and so does the one my friend owns. I suppose that is normal, but as you said it is fine with good light.

Selection #3 is exactly what I would buy because you're buying a high quality, high capacity rechargeable battery kit from a reputable vendor.

I would recommend reading this excellent rechargeable batteries review and notice where the Powerex 2000 mAH batteries placed?

So i take it that this is a good price for the set? I'm just kinda surprised batteries cost 1/6th of the price of the camera :/

It's not at all a good price.

If you want about $12 cheaper I would suggest buying lower capacity batteries such as this (I have purchased from SunnBattery.com with no problems before).
