hi guys

looking for a digicam under 300 , i have looked up quiet a few reviews and a70 seems to fit the bill

i can get an s230 for a bit more, but i dont really care for size and also a70's combined zoom (10X) is more than that of the s230

is there any other camera i should consider

thanks

I did a real hard investigation when deciding on my new digicam...and ordered the A70. It has definetly the best price/feature/quality combination!

You cannot go wrong with it!

I'm a huge fan of canons. I got the a40 a year ago and am amazed at how good the pictures look. I've gotten half a dozen friends to get either that or the a60, which is its successor. Go for it!

it's a good camera for the money...generally, canon's lenses are quite nice.

i bought an a40 a year ago and i'm totally pleased with its output.

I was deciding between Canon A70 and Sony DSC-P72. Ended up with the Canon A70 and happy with it.

Just got the Canon A70. It has probably the best features/price for 3.2MP digital cameras. Uses 4 AA batteries, lots of options for tweaking, and has an actual grip which is good for a small camera. It also uses Compact Flash cards (now up to 1gb capacities) which are cheaper and usually writes/reads faster than other media. If you don't mind something a little bigger and slightly more expensive, the Minolta S414 is actually a better deal (4.0MP plus it accepts filters that thread directly into lens. The A70 needs the LA-DC52C adapter that uses 52mm add on filters/lenses but this renders the built-in flash useless). It was a toss between the two but the smaller size of the A70 made up my mind. You can't go wrong with either two.

I have found most are buying digicams way over board for their needs.

The a70 is a nice cam, however I use my A50 just fine for my web work (1.3 MP).

If you print alot then yeah 3.2MP+ is good for bigger prints...but most that I know just dump to the web and even 1.3MP is overkill.
