Ok, think I may get this for the wife to replace a Fuji Finepix 2.0.

Anyone have one?
Thoughts?
How is it for $260 shipped?

Any others you would get instead in the 250 range?

While I highly commend your choice on Canon, I would suggest spending the additional $50 for the Canon SD400 Digital Elph. Uses a smaller rechargable battery instead of the 4 AA's and has a smaller form factor (about the size of a cigarette pack). On the downside, the SD400 has only 3.0x Optical Zoom versus 4.0x Optical Zoom with the A610.

I have the older S500 (uses Compact Flash rather than SD), but is essentially the same camera. Awesome pictures.

I just purchased an A610 to replace my old Fuji 2.1 MP.

I got the A610 for $220 shipped, including tax to CA from Dell last week.

I like it better than the SD series. I think they are too small. Using a slow shutter speed, I think you'll get more blur from the SDs than the A series. I really liked the 4x zoom. I like the 4AA batteries. Buy four good rechargable batteries, keep a set of alkalines around as a spare, and you're good to go.

Prefer the AA to battery Pack. I get Energizer Batteries by the gross for free!

i have it, its a little weightier but i think thats just fine after owning one of those elphs too. it helps u hold it stably, matters a lot for cheap digicams that cant do insane iso's for fast shutter speeds or have active image stabilization. its got lots of options and the swing out screen is nice:) and the batteries just last a long long time if u use nimhs. its very good for the price.
