What's the best way to get the camera to take decent indoor pictures? I can get it to take wonderful photos outside on the auto settings but I don't know much about cameras and would like to have my indoor photos come out better. Any tips?

Just use photoshop to increase the contrast of your indoor pics.

edit: I use an s200 and use photoshop to compensate for its crappy flash.

What's wrong with your pics? Do you have one hosted somewhere so we might see?

To dim the flash, use a cardboard flash deflector made from aluminum foil and cardboard.....to make the flash direct behind you.

Also, use a tripod, or set your camera steady on a table or something, and use the 2 sec. timer so you are wiggling around. Set your F.x to the higher setting, and use a longer shutter speed (3 sec. or so).

If it is a motion shot, use the flash reflector...

I just think there must be a better way to make the pictures turn out than this or this (and no, my friend is not really beating up his girlfriend).

That's after I played with the contrast and brightness. Tommy, thanks for the tip, that's exactly the kind of advice I was looking for. I love the camera outside, I'm just not quite satisfied on the pictures it takes indoors.

Cool, thanks! I have to admit to being mostly ignorant of photoshop and whatnot - I inherited an office computer when my dad's company shut down and it's sadly lacking in decent programs.
