Canon A10 camera ate thru recharagable batteries already?!

i put in fully charged 1400 nimh recharables in the A10, but i didnt touch it for a couple of days. i turned it on for the first time today, and played around w/the settings like resolution and compression. i didnt even take a pic.

i turn it off. 15 min later, i try to turn it on, and it said i need new batteries.

WTF?! just turning it on and playing w/it for 5 min drains all the battery?!

any ideas?

I've got the A20 and only have 1200mAh batteries and they last quite a while. Using the display does eat batteries a lot quicker than not using it. If the batteries are brand new they could need breaking in (charge, discharge) until they last a while or one or more of them could be bad.

Go buy some Duracells and see if the same thing happens.
