The 7D supported 1080p24 from the get-go because the hardware was designed to support that framerate. 24p wasn't merely a "deleted" firmware entry in the 5D2, otherwise we would have seen support for it 6 months ago (if not when the camera launched).

Colour me surprised. I was predicting they would not release this even though I was sure they were working on it.
What this suggests to me though is that the 5D Mark II probably won't be replaced for quite some time. The 1080p24 update keeps the 5D II from being Osborned, and this would be necessary if they weren't going to replace it until say 2011.
