Canon 40D off camera flash cable for 580EXII

Which one do I get?

I'd like to get a cable so I can take my 580EXII off my camera and use it as needed.

What "new flashes"?

I can use one with my 580EX and I see no reason they would take it off with the 580EXII.

If you get the off-shoe cord, which I think is 2-3 feet long, there are ways to extend it.

By cutting it in the middle then using a cat5 punch-down wall adapter on both ends, you should be able to use a regular network cable to extend it.

That is if you want to keep the ettl.
