Canon 24-70 F2.8 L II

According to Canon Rumors, the long awaited Canon 24-70 F2.8 L II patent has been filed. Not much in the way of info at this point.

Drool...

GF and I have the 24-70 F2.8L... If the other new lenses serve any indication as to what cannon can do with this lens, its going to rock.

No IS or there wil be one?

Should I sell my 24-70mm now so I can still have a good price before the new model comes out?🙂

Depends on whether you really want to upgrade. The current 24-70L is excellent if you get a good copy, and the new model will be priced $400-500 more based on recent Canon price hikes.

$1600+ for 24-70mm f/2.8...yikes!

I don't understand what could make it better than it already is. I wouldn't want IS in one..would make it too heavy for regular use.

this means your 24-70 f/2.8L will still be worth the same, if the other is priced pretty ridiculously

In fairness to Canon, they are in somewhat of a bind due to the strong Yen any money they earn overseas holds a lesser Yen value when converted. It's why Nintendo and Sony's recent earnings reports aren't as rosey.
