I am not able to keep Kaspersky Internet Security from starting up. I am trying to install a hard drive encryption program on my notebook but this program will not completely install because the Kaspersky AV app keeps it from completing the install. I went to msconfig and unchecked all the apps and restarted but when I come back to the startup tab in msconfig, the AV app is still checked! WTF! I ran regedit and didn't see anything in the run folder. What gives!

The strange thing is that I don't see Kaspersky running on the task manager applications tab. I also looked at the processes tab but i don't see anything close to Kaspersky running there either.

I went to services under msconfig and disabled Kaspersky and still it starts up. It I cannot stop this av app I will not be able to install the encryption app. I tried installing the hard drive encryption app first but when I do that, the av sigs gets corrupt and the av app asked to be updated and the computer restarted. This issue then goes into an endless loop of having corrupt files, av services not starting, and having to restart the computer after updating the av sigs. I am waiting on the encryption software company for some solution to this issue. Maybe both software apps are just not compatible with each other.

open up kaspersky.. right click the icon, go to settings.. under 'protection', uncheck the option 'run kaspersky blah blah blah at system startup'..

you can also turn off monitoring by right-clicking on the icon and choosing the appropriate option. most likely it's normal that you're not able to stop it from starting up by interacting with windows itself.
