Cannot share files over network

I have two computers connected to my Linksys wireless router right now with ethernet cable. One has XP Pro with SP2 and the other is brand-new and has XP Media Center. I have enabled File Sharing on both computers and run the network setup wizard to connect them to the "MSHOME" network.

When I go to My Network Places, though, I don't see "ShareDocs" for the other computer, much less the other folders I've shared. When I click on "View workgroup computers," I can see both computers on the MSHOME network, but when I double-click on my brother's computer, I get the following error:

\\T6524 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of

this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The network path was not found.

What's going on here? How can I fix this? This should be really easy and I have no idea why it's not.

Thanks.

Are you running a firewall on any of the computers?

If you are, make sure you run its network wizard. I had to do this to get my network going using Norton Internet Security

I am an absolute moron. I forgot to shut off my firewall. (I'd allow file transfers through but I don't know what I'm doing and it's only temporary. 🙂 )

Sorry and thanks. An admin can delete this thread if they'd like.
