Just recently, my Vista machine started experiencing this strange issue. The background is black and I cannot set it to any image, only a color. I also cannot view the thumbnails for pictures and such in folders. They show blank with only the file/folder name.
I have come across several threads such as http://winvistaforums.com/wind...und-wont-change-2.html but nothing I do seems to help. I have looked everywhere in the registry for the wallpaper setting including HKCU and HKLM. Everything looks good. I created another test user and that one has the same problem. I made sure the option was not checked under Easy Access to prevent wallpapers from showing. I have deleted the thumbs.db file as well as scanned for viruses and spyware with Spybot, Antivir, Superantispyware, and some others.
Any ideas?
