win2000 on my "home" computer

win98 on my "client" computer

I set up the user/pass to get them to network, however, I am only able to access "home" from the "client" computer.

When I ping the "client" from "home", it says unknown host.

huh?

in addition, can someone explain how to share printers without a print server. I have a g55. Thanks.

Your pinging the computer name? Ping the IP or setup WINS or create a host file if you want to ping the Computer name.

Right click on the printer icon on the PC it is installed on, click share. If it is on the 98 machine, you need File and printer sharing enabled in Network Properties.

Do I need to install 95/98 drivers under the additional drivers box?

If so, it asks for *.inf on my w2000 server disc. I HAVE PROFFESSIONAL installed, so wtf?

btw, how do i setup wins to create the host file?
