Cannot See Boot Process via DVI Connection?

I have an Ati 7500 connected to a Dell 2005FPW via DVI and I cannot see the boot process. However, when I connect the Dell to the analog of the 7500, I can see the boot process. I prefer using the DVI and was wondering if there is a way to be able see the boot process via the DVI or is the DVI only active under windows. The MB I'm using is a Abit AN7. I tried looking in the BIOS, but nothing for DVI enable.

Thanks for the help

I can't see anything until the windows splash screen is almost done, and by then it is to late. I see the splash screen and then the windows xp login screen. When I use the ananlog connection I can see everything starting from the POST (which is what I want to be able to do using the DVI) and beyond. I tried booting to dos using the ananlog and then changing to the DVI, but nothing but a blank screen. DVI only seems to work once windows is started.
