Cannot run HL2 benchmark after steam upgrade...

After Steam forced the "stuttering" update on me, I cannot run the packaged demos courtesy of Anandtech for benchmarkings. The console says" cannot run demos, HL engine number 7, current engine 8". Anyone know of any new demos, or how I can put my own together?
 
Anand put up a link to updated demos in his blog, IIRC. They aren't exactly comparable to the old ones, though.
