Cannot renew IP : No DHCP Server available.....

I have 3 coms connected via hub sharing internet connection via Com A which is on Cable Modem.

I switched the cable modem straight to one of my other com so I can host game and play on that com (its for gaming purpose) since ICS in Win2k uses NAT and assign internal ip to the other com.. thus I don know how to host.. unless you guys know

ANyway, I took this troublesome method by connecting the cable modem straight but I get this message saying No DHCP Server available .. cannot renew IP

I tried to renew IP to get the proper IP so I can host game.. din work..

Why??

Lemme get this straight, you have 3 computers (I'll call them A, B, and C). "A" is the main computer that handle the cable connection. You now want "B" to play games over the net. You take patch cable out of "A" and stick it into "b". Then you use IP config to grab and IP and it says DHCP server not found. If this is the case its pretty simple. Cable connections are attached to a NIC's MAC address and IP can only get assigned to a specific card.

Several solutions:
1) Buy an additional IP from cable company for $10 a month.
2) Swap NICs (NIC A into B and vice versa)
3) Call cable company and tell them you got a "new" computer and want to switch the service over the new one. They will ask for MAC address.
4) Game on Computer A

Hope this helps.

Well...
you are right in a sense..
but I am doing this troublesome method cos in the first place I dunno how to host game via ICS in Win2k using a shared computer (sharing net connection)

But I used to connect straight to com B before and it work!
I just reformat and now like this...

The actual msg is

Error
DHCP Server Unavailable : Renew Adapter ""

Any other idea?
Or do you know how to host game if I am using Com B?

if you switched cable from one machine to another... in most cases you simply need to switch off the cable modem. The cable modems cache the MAC address of the NIC. This can be reset by simply turning it off for a few minutes. when it comes back it on, it will store the other machine's MAC
