Cannot remove password in XP

After installing a new Soundblaster Audigy 2 in my computer, I could not boot. I had XP setup reinstall in the same directory (c:\windows) and when it was done everything seemed to work fine. I was able to go into the documents and settings folder and get to my "old" desktop and my documents folders. (There were labeled as administrator.WINDOWS and Dan.WINDOWS).

However, now that I log in as Dan and use the same password that I created, it will not let me remove the password like I used to be able to. (Control Panel-->User Accounts--> Change and Account--> Dan--> Remove password (or change password, neither works)-- Enter old password--> THEN I GET AN ERROR that reads: "Windows cannot remove the password" in a message box.

can any one please tell me what I can do to remove my password? I am currently using tweakui to log in for me, but when resuming from standby I still need to enter my password. Thanks!

do you have a minimum password time set in XP? if yes, you cannot change it before that time period expires unless you change the minimum time setting.
