On to phase 2 of the home office WiFi escapade. I got the card installed Friday night and everything was up and running. I could access the Internet from the PC and the laptop. Then I played with File Sharing in Win98. I don't think it's related, but now I can't access the Internet, and I don't have an IP address on the laptop. The desktop (the one I'm typing on now) works fine. I have verified all the settings in TCP/IP and the DLink WiFi card. When I try to get the IP info (such as "winipcfg" or "ipconfig") I get an error message "Cannot read IP information". What is going on? I removed and reinstalled everything that pertains to the network. Should I reload Win98SE?? I have XP Home unopened, should I try that?

Hold on a second, I found this:

Good Lord! I think it would be easier to reinstall Windows. Apparently, if you get this message, there are 2 basic causes. The Network Adapter is not bound to TCP/IP, or the TCP/IP stack is corrupted. Guess which one mine is. :|

So would reloading Windows 98SE over the existing setup fix this without having to manually edit the registry?

ANSWER: I reloaded Win98SE on the laptop. Took all of 20 mins.
