Cannot read a 16gb SD card

I have a system about 5 years old running a MSI K8N MB with an AMD 64 3200, 1 gb DDR mem, running XP Pro with SP3.
I can read 2 GB SD cards just fine, but if I insert a 16GB SD card it gives me an I/O error after about a 90 second lockup.
This is using a $15 all in one reader.... It did work ok previously....Nothing new or changed.

Any ideas??

Thanks,

Bob

If the card never worked before, I was going to say you need the Hotfix that lets XP read SDHC (higher than 2gb) cards.

If it worked before and it doesn't now, I'd guess faulty card and/or reader.

I am not absolutely sure if it worked before. I'll go search for the Hotfix and see what I come up with.

Thanks a bunch!!

And it worked on my newer reader. The older reader needs to go in the trash.....

Thanks!!

Bob
