Cannot preview sounds in Win 98 SE

When using the Sound Previewer in Windows, I receive the following error: Windows cannot play the XXX.wav file. It may be damaged or is not a valid sound file. Replace the file and try and again.

There is nothing wrong with these WAV files. They play all the time. I do notice that I longer have a program associated with WAV files.

I have searched high and low on the internet and have not found a solution to this problem.

OS: Win98 SE

XXX.wav? was that like a porno wav? I'm just kidding...

Well.. Why do you need a sound previewer in windows anyway?

What I would suggest is... Try to install a new version of IE, or maybe an updated one. And also try to install windows media player. If al these don't work. I usually... FORMAT!!!!!!!! and start all over... hehe. It's fun formatting.

Actually, I am fresh off a new format, new upgrade of IE 5.5 and Windows Media Player 7.

So, I'm hoping this is something else.

You need to re-associate the .wav files to windows media player if you dont have any programs associated for them.
