. cannot play dvds and think mb is the problem

I just got a new motherboard a K8NPRO-SLI made by gigabyte. I tried my old dvd drive and it says its playing but it doesnt show anything. I tried many media players and dvd software. Today i just bought a sony 810a drive and still it doesnt work. One program said something wrong with the audio and is inflicting with the dvd. I have tried other dvds and they are not copys. Dvd-roms work fine but not dvd movies
