I have a print server with multiple printing devices. About 3 weeks ago, the print server stopped seeing one of the printing devices (Tektronix 340 Phaser) over the network.
I checked all the cabling and tried to re-install the printer - no joy.
I tried to ping the device from the print server, and it didn't reply (timed out).
I then tried to ping the device from another (second) deviceand got a response.
Next I repatched the printer to the same hub as the second device that the print server can see.
The result of this is that I can ping the printer NIC from this second device, but not from the print server. However, I can ping the second device from the print server.
I have thought this through for a couple of weeks and tried different arrangements but get the same result.
I am either doing something very silly, or this is strange.
