Cannot Install Windows XP???

I was getting blue screen errors on a computer I set up for my kids. The system consists of an Abit KG7-RAID, 512 MB PC 3200 RAM, and an Athlon 2100 processor. I started by going into the RAID BIOS and deleting the RAID (had 0) and creating RAID 1. I have two WD 80 GB IDE HDD. Whenever I try to reinstall Windows XP Pro, the system hangs or I get a blue screen error. The system hangs during format of the hard drive or during installation of the OS. The point of problem differs. The blue screen error " A problem has been detected & windows has been shut down to prevent further damage to your computer. IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Technical information Stop: 0x0000000A(0x88ADE603, )x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x807CAFF8).
It was because of these Blue Screens that I started the reinstall.

Any suggestions to get me up and running?
Thanks in advance

I'd suggest trying to install a different OS and see how that goes - whether same types of errors
win98 or linux

Or try a vanilla install with XP without RAID and see if it takes

sorry couldnt be more help

I've done the following:
Replaced the video card-problem still there
Had two 256 MB RAM installed originally, tried to install with one 256 MD memory & vice versa- same problem.
Could both memory sticks be bad? Should I try new memory?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks

Sorry to labour the point, but Stop 0x0A during XP setup is just so typical of storage drivers not installed/configured correctly

So, assuming that the array is where you are installing to; are you installing HP drivers from floppy disc during the install (pressing F6)

Also, raise the memory voltage to 2.6-2.7 volts perhaps, it being PC3200. When people get a variety pack of BSOD's, underpowered PC3200 or higher seems to be one of the usual causes (inadequate/generic power supplies being another).

Recent-model WD hard drives also generally want to be jumpered as Single Drive if they're on their own data cables.

Bigger picture: your kids need RAID? :Q

Eliminate RAID - do a simple install on a single disk without any third party drivers and let us know how well it installs.

I have purchased new and replaced a video card, memory, and HDD's. Still no go. I will try another CD-ROM to install, & if that fails, try without the RAID. BTW, I am using the HP drivers supplied on ABIT's site. I do F^ and use these drivers & not the windows drivers.

The only problems I have had with Windows XP installs have been with memory... On my own system, one stick wouldn't work wth the install, but afterwards I was able to put it back in with no problems, and on a system that I built for a friend, I had to underclock the memory 🙂|) to get it to work (again, wasn't a bad stick).

I did switch out the CD-ROM. That was the problem. Windows XP installed fine after that. Spent a bundle on video card, two hdd's, 512 PC2700 RAM. After I had put in the CD-ROM, it then promptly died. Gotta buy one of these too.
Thanks
