Cannot install Internet Explorer 6 SP1

Hi,

I am posting for a friend. Somehow, Internet Explorer was deleted from her computer. I downloaded IE 6SP1 and put it on CD. She called later on saying that it won't install on her computer. I believe she is running Windows 98. She didn't give a specific error or anything. Does she need to have a previous version of IE for the IE 6SP1 to install? If so, can someone link me to an older version of IE? I can't find any on the Microsoft site.

which OS does she have? did you recommend firefox to her? did you find that by going to my computer, you can type in a web address?
 
If you need a CD with the Win98 version of IE6SP1 and some other Win98-oriented updates/resources, drop me a mailing addy and I'll send one out next week 🙂 I have a folder at work with various security stuff for Win98 (AntiVir Personal, ZoneAlarm free version, unofficial Win98 Service Pack, IE6SP1, DirectX 9.0C installer and some other goodies).

edit: before anyone asks, no we are not using AntiVir Personal or ZoneAlarm free version at work. That stuff is for some retiring PCs that are getting re-imaged back to their factory Win98 image and being given to foster families.

Just to make some clarifications. She isn't running Windows 98. She is running XP pro. My sister told me she is running XP pro. 🙂 Sorry for the confusion.

us3ernotfound, I cannot recommend firefox to her. How will she even download it if she has no browser available?
