Cannot install AVG anti-virus

I can download the AVG file. However, when I try to install it, it unzips then stops and disappears. I tried to insall rather than saving, and the same thing happens. Anyone have any ideas? Could there be a virus that is stoppping the install? Please help. Thanks

Sounds like a virus to me. The only time I have had similar things happen, I had a virus. Good luck

Went to safe mode (thanks to Corporate Recreations's stickified thread in Off Topic for suggesting it) and was able to install AVG. Rebooted and ran it, it found 21 infected files. All but 2 could be healed, and they are in files that cannot be removed. So the machine is as clean as it can be for now. It is probably due for a re-format soon anyway. run this...it will likely heal the other two viruses. DOn't worry about dling it to your computer it's only temporary.

It's deleted stuff AVG wouldn't.

Turn off system restore also then turn back on after cleaned.
