I have tried for several hours and nothing works. Read all the info on line. Obviously a lot of people had success but not me. here is the advice (The bold words are my comments):
"If you installed the game through Origin, the configuration utility should be located here: Program Files* - Origin Games - Mass Effect 2 - Binaries - MassEffect2Config No config files here
(* Program Files x86 on a 64-bit OS) Yes, I found the binery files here
If you have the retail copy, you can find the Config utility through the game's launcher. If you got the game from Steam, you have to look for it in the Steam folder. In any event, the config utility is in the Binaries folder in the installation directory. No it is not! There is also a Binaries folder in the Documents directory, but that's the wrong one. Yes, it's empty
Locating the ME1 save folder
Open MassEffect2Config and go to 'Save Games'. Then click 'Copy Mass Effect 1 Save Games'. Obviously impossible
You then have to locate the folder with ME1 saves. By default, this is Documents - BioWare - Mass Effect - Save. O.K. Since I finished the game, save files were there.
Select the folder and click OK. It doesn't appear as if anything happened at all, but it should be fine now. Start ME2, and you will be able to import your save file from ME1".
I also read "just import end game main character save" Fine, but where?
If anyone knows how to do this, please advise. The directions above are useless.
Thank you,
The Wife
