Cannot Import AVI Files into Premiere Pro CC - Huh?

Just installed Adobe Premiere Pro CC on my new Win 8 Pro build (secondary rig).

The installation went fine but when I tried to import a small movie to test a couple of plugins, I keep getting a dialog box that says, "Unsupported File ..." and it fails to import!

It works absolutely fine in CS5/CS6 so why isn't it importing into CC properly?

I need to use this rig for rendering - I can't do that if I can't even import the files to edit!

HELP!

It's the missing codec. There's a good chance that those avi files are ****. Search **** codec and get that installed.

To know for sure, you'll need a program to tell you what codec the avi file is. There are lots of those utility. Search for codec identifier.

What is the codec of the AVI files? It seems edited automatically by the forum - only asterisks show up(?).

I just clicked 'Codec Information' under Tools in VLC (while playing the video) and it shows the Video Codec to be: FRAPS: Realtime Video Capture (FPS1). The Audio Codec is: PCM S16 LE (araw).

I checked a couple of other videos and they all seem to have the same codec - the ones recorded with FRAPS.

Is fraps installed on the secondary rig also? If not, the system doesn't have the fps1 codec.

LOL.. that was exactly the problem! I remembered that FRAPS was not installed on there - doh!

Once installed, it imported like a beaut!

Thanks!
